spacerManually installing an ISAPI on IIS with Windows 2000 Server
To setup an ISAPI on a Windows 2000 Server running Microsoft Internet Information Services, begin by opening up Internet Information Services Manager.
Open up Internet Information Services by clicking on the Start button, located on the toolbar, and then selecting Control Panel from the Settings menu.
In the Control Panel folder, double-click on the icon "Administrative Tools". (Note: If this icon does not appear, it could be because you do not have administrative privileges.)
Once the Administrative Tools folder is open, double-click on the icon "Internet Services Manager". This will open up Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager's main configuration screen.
Right-click on the server that the ISAPI plugin will be installed on and select Properties. In the example shown, "futurama" is the name of the server.
The Server Properties will be displayed. Under the Internet Information Services tab is a group of options called Master Properties. Click on the "Edit" button located inside the Master Properties option set.
After you click the "Edit" button the"WWW Server Master Properties dialog is displayed. Inside this dialog you can control all the settings for the web sites located on the server.
Click on the "ISAPI Filters" to continue.
To install an ISAPI plugin to the list of plugin filters that IIS uses, click on the "Add" button The Filter Properties dialog is displayed. This is where the ISAPI plugin filter information should be entered. Enter the name of the ISAPI plugin in the Filter Name field and the location of that filter's DLL on your computer. To navigate and find the file in Windows Explorer, click the "Browse" button. Once the location to the ISAPI plugin's DLL has been entered click "Ok".
In order for the changes to take effect on the server, IIS needs to be restarted. To restart the server right-click on it and select Restart IIS.
Select Restart Internet Services and then click "Ok". This will restart Microsoft Internet Information Services. Once the server is restarted, the ISAPI plugin will be running and active on the server.
