ISAPIZip reduces the amount of bandwidth required to deliver high quality content from a web server.
Many web servers require a lot of bandwidth to deliver quality content to users. The more bandwidth a server uses to operate, the more expensive it is to run, and that means somebody has to pay more to run it.
ISAPIZip helps you reduce the amount of bandwidth it takes to deliver your high quality content to your users. When you use less bandwidth to run your web server, you reduce your operating costs. With ISAPIZip, you don t have to reduce the quality your content to reduce your bandwidth costs.
ISAPIZip is an Internet Server Application Programming Interface (ISAPI) filter for Internet Information Server (IIS) that compresses data requested from a web server. ISAPIZip reduces the amount of bandwidth required to transfer data from a web server to an end user.
ISAPIZip takes advantage of the latest technology built into most modern web browsers and uses that technology to compress data that is sent to those who request it from your web server. ISAPIZip compresses the data sent from the server, which reduces the amount of bandwidth used. Once the user's web browser receives the data, it automatically decompresses and displays for the user. In addition to reducing bandwidth usage, ISAPIZip also increases the speed at which web pages load.
Simply put, when the user's browser requests data from an IIS server running ISAPIZip, it will indicate to ISAPIZip if it supports compression. If that browser supports compression, ISAPIZip will compress the requested data and send it back to that user. The browser will then decompress the data, however, if the browser does not support compression, then the IIS server will send data in its original (uncompressed) form. ISAPIZip reduces bandwidth use without reducing the quality of your content. Ultimately, the greatest benefit of using ISAPIZip is that it will help you save money by reducing the amount of bandwidth your server needs to operate.
Because ISAPIZip compresses data by 70% to 90% of its original size, it also means ISAPIZip reduces bandwidth use by 30%. With the extra bandwidth, you can use it to serve more of the same quality content while still reducing bandwidth costs.
Features
 Support for HTTP 1.0
This option allows compression to be turned on or off for users who are trying to request compressed pages using the HTTP 1.0 specification. The HTTP 1.0 specification was not introduced with content encoding, but if an HTTP 1.0 request for content encoding occurs, the data is compressed and sent.
Support for HTTP 1.1
Supports all the details of the HTTP 1.1 specification to date including transfer chunked encoding. 
Support for HTTP Proxies
Provides the ability to enable or disable compression on content coming through proxy servers.
Support for HTTPS (SSL)
Includes support for Secured Socket Layer compression. This feature reduces the overhead required by the encryption processes because the data is compressed and then encrypted.
Support for PlumTree Portal, SharePoint, and Websphere
Works with all web services, such as SharePoint, PHP-Nuke, etc.
Compatible with Scripting Languages
ISAPIZip has support for all scripted languages such as ColdFusion, PHP, ASP, ASP.NET, CGI, Perl, and JSP. In fact, ISAPIZip can handle any kind of dynamic content with scripted language support. ISAPIZip has support for and is fully compatible with all versions of ColdFusion including version 5 and eariler.
Streamed Compression
The ability to compress incremental HTTP content on the fly is generally not supported by most ISAPI plugins. ISAPIZip allows the content to be streamed and still be compressed. This is important if you are streaming data to or from your web server and still want the same compression savings that you would expect from un-streamed data. 
Compresses POST and GET Responses
ISAPIZip supports both POST and GET requests. ISAPIZip also supports most other requests, and working in conjunction with them to send the data properly and with maximum compression.
Compresses Dynamic Content
ISAPIZip correctly compresses all dynamic content without the overhead notably associated with caching. ISAPIZip supports all dynamic content generated with almost any scripting language.
Compresses Microsoft XML 2.0 and Adobe Reader PDF Files
ISAPIZip supports compression for Microsoft XML 2.0 file types and dramatically reduces the amount of time required to load them. ISAPIZip also compresses Adobe Reader PDF files. Compression savings on PDF files are minimal, but ISAPIZip still reduces the bandwidth for large PDF files and speeds up the Adobe Reader PDF loading time. (PDF compression is turned off by default because of a bug in Adobe Acrobat Reader)
MIME-Type Settings
ISAPIZip supports compression of user defined MIME types. You can easily enable and disable compression on the various MIME types with the ISAPIZip configuration tool, allowing you to have maximum control over which file types are compressed on your server.
Extension Settings
This powerful feature gives you more control over the content being compressed on your site by allow you to configure compression support for particular file extensions. You can easily configure ISAPIZip to deny or allow compression on file extensions. 
URL Settings
ISAPIZip lets you choose which paths and URLs you want to deny or allow compression for. You can specify on your web server the direct path where you want compression to take place or where you do not want it to take place.
Wildcard Matching
With our unique wildcard matching system, you can easily deny or allow compression on a limited range of files.
Compression Settings
